I searched the archives to see if this has been covered before, but couldn't find it. So, if it has send me there, otherwise the service manual says to adjust the broiler flame by moving the mixer shutter and orifice cap. But, I don't know what these are and can't find them illustrated in the manual.
Can anyone tell me how to turn the broiler flame up a bit on a BZ?
    Thanks,
    Ann

    hi ann,
the mixer shutter is located at the round end of the burner, on the right as you look at the stove. theres a set screw(or bolt) that locks it in place via tension. its just a piece of metal that can be moved to adjust the air mixture to the burner. the mixer cap is that brass cylinder that fits into the round end of the burner. follow the gas supply tube to the broiler. the mixing pin and cap are at the end of it. the mixer cap is what adjusts gas flow to the burner.
more gas requires more air so you need to play around with both adjustments to get the proper flame.
similar arrangement is on all the burners in the stove, including the top burners. recommended flame hieghts for natural gas:
oven- 3/4 inch, all other burners- 3/8 inch. flames should be blue, no yellow.
    hope that helps

    Thanks for the help, Tom.
But, I can't get the screw on the orifice cap to budge. Any suggestions for easy de-freezing of old parts?
The broiler actually works just fine. I was only trying to adjust the flame to be the size they recommend in the manual.
